Ultimately I love to start my day with a quiet coffee and my journal ~ a chance to have my own thoughts and set the tone for the rest of the day. Give me a half an hour to slowly wake up without any outside interference so I can get my head on. I learned this years ago when I noticed that if I didn't give myself this time I always started out on the wrong foot. Not feeling at my full capacity I would end up spilling things, forgetting things, feeling impatient, losing my temper. My mind would scramble to try and connect the dots with the simplest tasks. I was beginning my day rushing, exhausted and in the long run I dragged this energy through the rest of the day. Just a train wreck!
You know I edited this picture of this little Blue Jay a week ago and it's been sitting on my desktop waiting for the words to come. Nature and photography go hand in hand for me. When I take a picture ~ inspiring words float into my mind. It doesn't matter if it's a tree, a horizon, a twig on a snowbank or a pebble on a beach ~ it speaks to me. Well it took some time for this little bird but he came through. He reminded me ~ that the other day when I played some soothing music with my coffee while I wrote in my journal~ It filled me with peace. I carried this peace through the whole day. It elevated everything that I did, everything that I thought and anyone that I came in contact with. It was in fact a beautiful day!
So often we struggle with all of the things that we can't control in our daily lives. When in reality we sometimes do not recognize the power that we do have. Some of the smallest tasks that are within your control can change the outcome of some of the most energy draining days. We just need to choose them. Instead of waiting to find time in your schedule for inspiration ~ schedule inspiration as your first task of the day. Let it set the pace, spread through your day like wildflowers and bloom with a good nights rest. Start your day with a song and give your day wings. ~ thank you little Blue Jay!
